Triple Bottom Line Program
While all businesses have a conventional bottom line to measure their fiscal performance—financial profit or loss—Bascom monitors a second and third bottom line to measure performance in terms of positive environmental and social impact. Through its energy saving retrofits and grassroots resident services and community outreach programs, Bascom seeks to create a healthy and safe, comfortable home setting to support the family environment. Energy saving efforts seek to reduce natural resource usage at all communities. Bascom’s community outreach is focused on establishing corporate, individual, and on-site goals to strengthen ties within the community, creating relationships with local educational systems, law enforcement officials and charities. In developing life enrichment programs for our residents and families, we seek to expand social equity, which in turn leads to increases in economic equity. Improved quality of living increases brand identity, loyalty, retention, and referrals especially during times of uncertainty for families.
Bascom has found that the residents of its apartment communities will choose housing based on the best in Quality, Value, Service, and Community.

- 3 pronged approach to measuring performance
- Property reuse versus new development
- Build social equity through community outreach programs and understanding stakeholder expectations
- Realize natural resource savings through utility retrofits
